Shopping Day was painted in 2018. Although this is the only Afro-Art collection piece featured on Pimento Creations from that year, it is not the only piece artist, Jolianne Alexander, painted. That year was a very experimental year for Jolianne. It was so experimental, in fact, that Jolianne found much of the art she painted that year ultimately unusable.

During that year, Jolianne experimented in trying to find her art identity. She dabbled in hyper-realism, abstract, water-color, and many other forms of media and techniques. While she learned a lot, which she will share on Youtube, she still kept gravitating back to her own style. Shopping Day is that reconnection with Jolianne's true self and true style.

Shopping Day was painted on a whim by Jolianne, who got tired of deviating from herself. Shopping Day had no outside inspiration, other than Jolianne's need to be herself again.

To Jolianne, Shopping Day is meant to represent a rediscovery of oneself--no more shopping around for who you are, when all you need is within yourself. To you, it may mean something different, and that is the beauty of Pimento Creations' art. Discovering yourself through art is what this is all about.
