Shennan's Story
Shennan was painted in January, 2017. Shennan was the first painting artist, Jolianne Alexander, painted after Denali. Many months had passed between the painting of Denali and Shennan, and although Jolianne had intended to begin an Afro-Art collection with Denali, the thought seemed more of a fanciful vision, rather than a concrete goal. That goal became solidified with the painting of Shennan, however. Armed with her second painting in the Afro-Art collection, Jolianne became even more invigorated to make her vision of Pimento Creations come to life.
Shennan is the most interpretive/abstract painting that Jolianne has ever done. In other words, there is nothing truly realistic about Shennan. From the distortion of her eyes, to the proportions of her features and clothing, Shennan is like what a beautiful woman would look like if you were looking at her while you're under water. That is her beauty, though--her distortion.
Given that Shennan is meant to depict beauty in the flaws, it is Pimento Creations' hope that when you admire Shennan, you will similarly find beauty in your own flaws.
